About

Urbanism, the arts, media, civic engagement, sports and la cultura.

Finding synergy in seemingly disparate topics is where I thrive.

With a background in geography and urban planning, film photography, and contemporary art, I love finding unique connections between seemingly disparate topics that ultimately bridge communities. As a bicultural Chicana, my work in cultural production prioritizes artists of color and marginalized voices in museums and media. I’ve had the pleasure of interviewing curators, artists, and cultural workers, like Tiona Nekkia McClodden (Bucksbaum Award, Whitney Biennial 2019), Mel Chin (MacArthur fellow), Carmen Hermo (curator).

In recent years, I’ve produced podcasts on Formula 1, surf dynasties and the cultural impact of the Bay Area’s hyphy music. I’ve profiled skateboarders and graffiti artists, and produced mini-documentaries on musicians and athletes.

In May 2020, I cofounded Soft Power Vote, a New York City civic engagement initiative that produces voter guides and digital content to invite more New Yorkers into the voting process. Our Level Up interviews and podcast series have featured elected officials, organizers, and creatives, such as (now, Mayor) Zohran Mamdani, State Senator Jabari Brisport, State Representitive Phara Souffrant Forrest, and City Councilmemeber Chi Ossé (Find the podcast on all streaming platforms by searching: Level Up by Soft Power Vote). Soft Power Vote is currently a member of NEW INC, the NEW MUSEUM cultural incubator. To learn more about the project, check out our presentation at the 2025 DEMO festival: HERE.

In 2020, I received a full scholarship to the Transom Traveling Audio Workshop, hosted at WPLN in Nashville, TN. The same year, I received a grant from the San Francisco Art Book Fair, awarded to fifteen BIPOC artists and publishers nationwide.

In 2016, I launched my Te Aprecio Show, a regional R&B radio program that surveyed the music and cultural history of a given locale; from the futuristic funk of Minneapolis Sound to the emphatic brass of Philly Soul, it’s undeniable that music reflects our diverse cultural landscape. It was hosted on San Francisco’s independent internet radio station, BFF.FM and NYC’s 8 Ball Radio, and was nominated for a Mixcloud Award in 2018.

If you see value in creating creative, equitable, and inspiring content, let’s collaborate!
