I'm just out here tryna function, and if you know what that means, than you're probably from the Bay Area as well. I host the Te Aprecio Show, a podcast radio program that celebrates regionality in Soul, R&B and Hip Hop music. While listening to the music I fold in some regional history to better paint a picture of the place.
Back in 2014 I started filling in for my girl JustStella on BFF.fm in San Francisco. We have wildly different music tastes. I grew up in a world of alt rock, and was the girl jamming to 'My Love don't Cost a Thing' in high school while everyone else was transfixed by Led Zepplin and the like. I love the mainstream and grew up on 106KMEL and Wild 107 (now Wild 94.9). Soul music is also big in The Bay, or as my friend stated, it's big everywhere. I composed a Low Rider Jams playlist and my friends across town broadcasted it in their restaurants/bars during service – I was hooked. The next time I filled in for her I did a program celebrating Frank Ocean after he bailed from FYF – yes I LOVE an emotional bae.
